Hawaiian Poster Series


2026 - Ongoing Hawaiian Poster Series is an ongoing, self-initiated project where each poster becomes a study in a specific theme from my upbringing in Hawaiʻi — place, tradition, material, memory.

1) Lei Kūpe‘e. The first set explores lei kūpeʻe shell motifs, translating a familiar cultural form into poster-scale graphic design. Typography and pattern are informed by the forms of the shells themselves, creating a dynamic, unique layout reminiscent of retro Hawaiʻi design.

2) ‘Ākala. A risograph print exploring the native Hawaiian raspberry, found in the upper mountainous regions of the islands. Endemic to Hawaiʻi and part of the Rosaceae family, ʻākala takes its name from the Hawaiian word for "pink" — the color of its juice, once used to dye kapa.
